Making Coffee

Our Partners

We are pretty awesome, but we can't do it alone.  Our beans & treats are outsourced from amazing local businesses while we supply the service & atmosphere.

Calgary Heritage Coffee Roasters

During our search for the perfect coffee roaster, there were countless coffee dates with friends and endless cups of coffee consumed, all in the quest to find our favorite local roaster. While regular coffee dates were a blast, we needed to make a decision about which roaster's beans we’d use for brewing at our shop. With a list of roasters to try, I enlisted the help of our 10-year-old daughter for a coffee date at Calgary Heritage Coffee Roasters. She hesitated at first but was easily convinced with the promise of a hot chocolate.

Calgary Heritage Coffee Roasters is located in the historic Inglewood district, housed in a charming old brick building that radiates character. Their cozy shop features original hardwood floors, inviting lighting, and an intimate atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. I ordered the hot chocolate (as promised) and a cup of black coffee. Having kicked my coffee cream addiction years ago, I know that great coffee needs to stand on its own, and Calgary Heritage delivers with a beautifully smooth cup. The hot chocolate? Magical.

When choosing a roaster, I had a few key criteria in mind:

  • Local to Calgary

  • Thoughtful packaging

  • Organic

  • Delicious

Calgary Heritage exceeded all my expectations, so I reached out to the owners to see if they’d be interested in working with us—and thankfully, they were! Since then, they’ve been incredibly supportive, offering invaluable advice on equipment and coffee tips.

Calgary Heritage was founded by wildland firefighters who, during a camping trip, came up with the idea of roasting beans over a campfire. What I love most about them is their genuine willingness to help small business owners like me by sharing their knowledge and expertise.

We also admire their commitment to giving back. Through their 1 Million Planted initiative, they donate to wildfire relief and plant a tree for every bag of coffee sold. To date, they’ve planted over 101,000 trees across BC and Alberta. Knowing that we’re serving their beans at Social Grounds makes us proud, and we hope to create a similar impact in our community by giving back whenever possible, just as they have.

Pretty Sweet Bakery

We think the name says it all, Pretty Sweet Bakery provides the prettiest treats for your sweet tooth. Giving thank you gifts is one of our favorite things, which is how we stumbled across the Pretty Sweet Bakery. All of their treats are made with such care & skill, and we can feel good giving them as gifts and selling them at Social Grounds. Be sure to try the cookie sandwiches-they might be just as good as our coffee!

Glamorgan Bakery

Glamorgan Bakery's Cheese Buns are a beloved Calgary classic, and we're thrilled to offer them at Social Grounds. These fan favorites are a top seller, and we receive fresh batches regularly. Along with the iconic cheese buns, we also carry a delicious selection of treats from Glamorgan, including donuts, scones, tarts, and savory items.

What makes Glamorgan even more special to us is that they are a family-owned business, serving up both tasty treats and fair prices. In our first year alone, we sold over 5,500 cheese buns—and we like to think we're doing our customers a favor by offering them one at a time, instead of six disappearing on the drive home! We're proud to partner with Glamorgan and share their delicious creations with you at Social Grounds.
