Learn the satisfying art of creating your own custom ceramic mug. This 2-part class focuses on essential hand-building techniques, primarily slab construction to form a functional and beautiful drinking vessel. Students will practice attaching a comfortable handle, refining the lip for a smooth drinking experience, and applying surface designs. Whether you want a cozy morning coffee mug or a statement piece for your desk, you will leave with a piece perfectly suited to your personal style. About the artist: Liz is an artist and teacher who believes that everyone has the capacity to create art. Specializing in hand building with clay, she focuses on making pottery accessible to all ages and skill levels—from absolute beginners to seasoned creators. For Liz, working with clay isn't just about making objects; it’s about the calming power of the creative process and the joy of working with your hands. Her classes are a welcoming space where everyone can explore their potential in a supportive, inclusive, and relaxing environment Techniques Covered: Slab building, attaching, scoring and slipping, surface decoration. Skill Level: Beginner-Friendly. Project Goal: One finished, functional ceramic mug. Class #1 March 8th then join us back in our studio on March 29th for Class #2 1:45-2:45 pm to glaze your creation. All pieces will be available for pick up at Social Grounds approximately 1 week after glazing.
